Paris Hilton released: tells of panic attacks, talks with inmates
Paris Hilton has vowed to prove critics wrong and show she is a changed person after 3 weeks in jail. "I'm a good person. I'm a compassionate person. I have a big heart. I'm sincere, and they'll see," the heiress told People magazine. Hilton also spoke about why she was briefly released to home detention after just 3 days - a move swiftly overruled by a judge after a public uproar over whether she was given special treatment. "I was basically in the fetal position, basically in hysterics ... and having severe anxiety and panic attacks."

Why was Paris released: Grandfather donated money to the sheriff
According financial records Paris Hilton's billionaire grandfather William Barron Hilton donated money to the election campaign of the sheriff who released heiress from jail. A friend of the Hilton family said the temporary release of the heiress may have been a "quid pro quo". "A member of her family has been a contributor to Baca's campaign and this may have been payback time. Her entourage initially were confident she would be out of jail in a few days." Mr Baca, who has faced heavy criticism for attempting to overrule the judge, has in the past been accused of Hollywood elite favouritism - failing to report actor Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic tirade.

Crying Paris Hilton is sent back to jail
Celebrity Paris Hilton has been taken screaming from a LA court after being told to return to jail. The heiress was ordered to attend the hearing rather than listen to the proceeding by telephone. She left jail 3 days into a 45-day sentence. Her release from detention, on unspecified medical grounds, had sparked criticism. She attended court to hear the case for her "reassignment" to house arrest. She cried throughout the court session. The judge said that she would have to serve her 45-day sentence. "It's not right!" she shouted in response, before calling out to her mother, who was at the court.

Paris Hilton sent home under house arrest: Then ordered back to court
Hours after Paris Hilton was sent home under house arrest the judge who put her in jail ordered her back to court to determine whether she should be put back behind bars. After only 3 days behind bars of her 45-day sentence, Hilton traded a 12-by-8-foot cell for her 2,700-square-foot Hollywood Hills home when she was released because of an unspecified medical condition. Hilton was to be under home confinement, wearing an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, for the remaining 40 days of her sentence for violating probation in a reckless driving case.

Paris Hilton doing well after 1st night in jail
"She's using this time to reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better and hopefully, in my opinion, to change the attitudes that exist about her among many people," attorney Richard A. Hutton told. She surrendered after an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards. In jail-issued clothes, Hilton was being housed in a special unit where she was spending 23 hours a day in a solitary cell. "If she was an ordinary citizen she would have been placed in the general population ... she'd be living in a dorm with 30, 40, 50 other women and the time would pass pretty quick. She is really being punished because of her celebrity."

Former Inmate Says Many Are Already Angry at the Heiress
Many women at the LA County jail where Paris Hilton is expected to arrive any day are angry at the socialite, believing officials were making room for the starlet at the expense of other inmates already coping with crowded conditions in the 2,200-bed jail, a former inmate Susannah Johnson said. "The only advice I could give her when she comes is to shut her mouth and do the time." Photographers, reporters and tv crews staked out positions at 3 entrances to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. Adrian Sanchez, a photographer with Agencia Efe said he was "bored, hungry and cold."

Paris Hilton granted a shorter prison sentence - if she behaves herself
Paris Hilton learnt that she may have to serve only 23 days of her 45-day sentence for driving offences, as long as she behaves herself. Her psychiatrist has described her as "emotionally distraught and traumatised". The media has further whipped up hysteria, speculating about girl gangs at the Century Regional Detention Facility in the LA suburb of Lynwood, where Paris Hilton must begin her sentence no later than 5 June. She will be placed in a "special needs housing unit" away from the general jail population because of her high profile, in effect shielding her from abuse. She might have to share a cell.
